Vol. 93 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post-War Agricultural Plans.

asked the Taoiseach if, in view of the serious problems which will confront this country after the war and the need for genuine reconstruction, the sub-committee set up by the Cabinet to consider post-war plans will consult with agricultural organisations and with labour organisations.

As I indicated in reply to a Parliamentary question addressed to me on the 27th October last by Deputy Martin O'Sullivan, the Committee of the Cabinet which was set up in November, 1942, keeps under observation the progress made by Departments in formulating proposals for post-war activities, and makes suggestions as to the steps which might be taken to expedite planning and the carrying out of preparatory work in existing conditions. The primary responsibility for the preparation of such plans rests, however, on the Departments concerned, under instructions from the Government, and I have no doubt that these Departments will consult with agricultural and labour organisations whenever it may appear to them that such consultations would be appropriate.
