Vol. 94 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curragh Camp Employees.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a number of employees on the Curragh Camp have not yet received the emergency bonus granted to other employees; and if he will state when it is proposed to pay the emergency bonus to all the employees.

I am aware that a small number of this Department's civilian employees at the Curragh Camp were not in receipt of emergency bonus pending investigations of their claims. The appropriate rates of bonus have now been fixed and authority has issued for payment in all outstanding applications.

I think I am correct in saying that there are still certain cases that have not been dealt with, although some have been under review for more than 12 months.

If the Deputy brings them to my attention, I shall have them looked into.

Can the Minister say whether stokers who were a class that did not receive a bonus up to recently, are included in the latest decision?

Do they come under the same class as stationary engine-drivers?

To some extent.

They are included.
