Vol. 94 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Permits for Purchase of Agricultural Machinery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is satisfied that the committees appointed to make recommendation to him as to the suitable persons to whom Departmental permits should be given for the purchase of agricultural machinery are the most satisfactory manner of allocating the available machinery; if he has received a volume of complaints as to the working of such committees; and if he will state whether in the circumstances such committees will function in the case of further agricultural machinery for distribution.

I am satisfied that the special committees established to recommend suitable persons for the purchase of agricultural machinery have generally carried out their duties in a very satisfactory manner. The relatively few complaints which have been received do not indicate any general dissatisfaction, and I see no grounds for abandoning the present procedure.
