Vol. 94 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin-Belfast Main Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if the necessary plans and scheme have been formulated for a fast traffic road from Dublin to Belfast by-passing the towns of Santry and Swords, and if he will state if this scheme has been sanctioned; and if he will also state if the proposed road will by-pass Balbriggan, and when the scheme will be put into operation.

Preliminary surveys were carried out for the improvement of the road between Whitehall and north of Santry, and between Cloghran via Swords to Lanestown, but no final proposals for the reconstruction of any portion of the road in question have been formulated or sanctioned.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary state, even at this stage, if it is intended to by-pass Santry and Swords and if it is the intention to sanction that proposal?

The matter has not reached the stage of any proposals being examined with regard to the bypassing of those places.
