Vol. 95 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes in County Kildare.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received proposals from the Kildare County Council for the provision of water and sewerage schemes for the towns of Kilcock, Maynooth, Leixlip and Celbridge; whether the proposals have been considered; and, if so, how the matter now stands.

Proposals for the provision of a regional water supply to serve the towns of Kilcock, Maynooth, Leixlip and Celbridge were approved in August, 1940. The work, however, was not proceeded with at the time as it was not possible to secure the necessary materials. The proposals are being kept under review and will be proceeded with in stages according as supplies become available.

No proposals have been received in regard to sewerage schemes for the towns mentioned. The provision of sewerage facilities could not be considered pending the installation of a water supply.
