Vol. 95 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Estate Trust Fund.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position of the trust fund in connection with the Verschoyle Estate, Cloney, Athy, County Kildare; the names and addresses of the present trustees, the amount of accumulated interest in the fund and the date of the last expenditure from it in respect of the clearance of drains for which it was originally created; and whether, since the drains in question have since been included in the Barrow Drainage District, the interest so accumulated should now be diverted to the payment to Kildare County Council of arrears of Barrow drainage rate in respect of the lands for which the trust fund was created.

As this matter involves some legal investigation, I would ask the Deputy to be good enough to repeat his question next week when I hope to be in a position to give a definite reply.

Is the Minister aware that this matter is urgent as legal proceedings are pending for the recovery of drainage rates in respect of those lands?

I am not so aware. I hope to be able to give a full reply in the matter next week.
