Vol. 95 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Greyhound Breeding.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will have formulated a greyhound breeding improvement scheme on similar lines to that of the cattle and horse-breeding schemes, and if he is aware that when this emergency is over there will be a great increase in the number of racing tracks and that Irish greyhounds will be in very great demand.

I have no reason to think that the greyhound breeding industry requires either State aid or control, and I do not propose to formulate a breeding improvement scheme as suggested by the Deputy.

On the question of increasing the greyhound business, I believe that every city in the world from the North Pole to the South Pole and from China to Peru has a greyhound track.
