asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total amount of rates struck by local authorities for the year ending 31st March, 1944, under each of the headings (1) rural areas, (2) urban areas (including town commissioners) and (3) borough areas; also the amount in the £ represented by the rates struck under such headings and the actual percentage of the warrants collected in each case.

A return showing the rates struck for the year 1943-44 for every county, county borough, borough, urban district and town under town commissioners will be circulated with the Official Report. As regards the latter part of the question, the particulars which are available in my Department relate only to county areas, and this information will also be circulated with the Official Report.
