Vol. 95 No. 8

Ceisteanna. — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cromane Purification Tanks.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the mussel purification tanks at Cromane, County Kerry, are inadequate for the amount of mussels landed by the fishermen of Cromane, and if he intends to take steps to have said tanks enlarged, so that all the fishermen can be accepted as suppliers.

I am aware that mussels are at present being gathered in the Cromane area in greater quantity than can be dealt with by the purification plant operated there since 1940 by the Sea Fisheries Association. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his inquiry on the subject on 11th November, 1943.
