Vol. 95 No. 12

Committee on Finance. - Vote No. 42—General Register Office.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £432 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March, 1945, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Office of the Registrar General of Births, etc. (7 and 8 Vict., c. 81, sec. 54; 26 Vict., c. 11, sec. 9, and c. 27; 26 and 27 Vict., c. 52, sec. 11, and c. 90, sec. 20; 42 and 43 Vict., c. 70; and 43 and 44 Vict., c. 13).

Will the Minister tell us something about the Estimate?

The sum of £232 is required in respect of the increase in the cost-of-living bonus. The Appropriations-in-Aid show a decrease of £200, due to the fact that the number of applications for certificates has fallen because there are fewer travel permits being issued.

Do I understand that Vote No. 17 is being moved?

Vote No. 42 has been moved.

What Vote are we dealing with?

Vote No. 42.

Vote put and agreed to.
