Vol. 95 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the grounds for refusal of a military service pension under the 1934 Act to Mr. James Moore, Clonaheen, Rosenallis, County Leix (Ref. No. 18667/C 3), and if he will have this case now reconsidered as men with similar service as Mr. Moore have been awarded pensions.

Mr. James Moore, Clonaheen, Rosenallis, Leix, was orally examined at the office of the Referee on the 1st February, 1940, on his application under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934. The finding of the Referee on the evidence before him, including that tendered orally by Mr. Moore, was that Mr. Moore is not a person to whom the Act applies. An appeal for reconsideration of the Referee's finding was then submitted on behalf of Mr. Moore. The Referee reconsidered the case and took further evidence bearing on the appeal, but found no cause to vary his finding. In the circumstances, I do not propose to take any further action in the matter.
