Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acreage Under State Forestry.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the acreage under State forestry in Ireland; (b) the counties which have got State forests; (c) the acreage under forestry at Cong, Ballinrobe and Foxford, in County Mayo; (d) the acreage in the hands of the Forestry Department awaiting plantation; (e) the acreage which has been planted in the State forests each year since 1932; and (f) the number employed yearly since that period.

The reply is in the form of a statistical statement which will be circulated in the Official Report.

Statement is as follows:—

The latest complete figures available are for the period to 31st March, 1944, to which the following relate:—(a) The acreage under State Forestry in Ireland—113,696 acres. (b) The counties which have got State forests: There are State plantations in each of the 26 Counties. (c) The acreage under forestry at Cong, Ballinrobe and Foxford in County Mayo: Cong, 1,837 acres; Foxford, 267 acres. (d) The acreage in the hands of the Forestry Department awaiting plantation: 21,792 acres. (e) The acreage which has been planted in the State forests each year since 1932:—
