Vol. 96 No. 17

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 (including Votes Nos. 32 to 40), and No. 8. It is not proposed to take Private Deputies' business to-day.

May I ask if, on the reassembly of Parliament, it would be possible to have a copy of the Order Paper sent to each Deputy some days in advance so that we would know the nature of the business that was coming before the House? The majority of Deputies did not know until to-day what business was on the Order Paper. Would it be possible to have my suggestion carried out in the future?

The Deputy's proposal would not be feasible when the Dáil is in daily session. In any case, it is not a matter to be decided by the Chair.

Would it not be possible to have what I suggest done when, say, the House adjourns for a fortnight? Deputies who are members of public bodies are supplied with a copy of the agenda seven days before their local bodies meet.

The Deputy is not aware that the Government realise that, if what he suggests were done, Deputies would then know too much.

On how many days is it proposed that the House should sit this week?

That will depend on the course of business. It is quite possible that the House may be sitting on Thursday and Friday of this week.
