Vol. 96 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Railway Charges.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that four County Offaly farmers were charged £8 7s. 4d. for the conveyance by rail from Dublin to Geashill of calves, purchased by them on the 8th March, 1945, at the Ballsbridge Sales; and that the normal charge from Geashill to Dublin for one wagon, as in this case, is £3 1s. 6d.; and, if so, if he will cause inquiries to be made into the reasons for making such an excessive charge on the occasion in question.

I have no function in this matter. The charges and charging regulations of Córas Iompair Éireann are available for inspection at stations under Section 103 of the Transport Act, 1944. Users of the railway should have no difficulty in discussing charges on particular consignments directly with the company.
