Vol. 97 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Allottee's House-Claim.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that Mr. Richard Walshe, an Old I.R.A. officer, Arrodstown, Summerhill, County Meath, was allotted a farm of land on the Molloy estate, Phipotstown, Kilcock, County Meath (Record Order No. S. 8087/2. Meath) some years ago, on which no house was built; and that the small grant which was granted towards the repairs of the old house on the lands was totally inadequate; and, if so, if he will now take steps to see that a new house is erected on this farm by the Land Commission.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission sanctioned in April, 1937, an advance of £50 and a free grant of £125 towards the repair of the dwelling-house and the erection of an out-office on the parcel of land allotted to Mr. Richard Walshe. He has not availed of this assistance and two applications on his behalf have been made for increased assistance, but both were refused by the Land Commission. The sanctions already made are still in force, if the allottee desires to avail of them. The Land Commission are not prepared to make further provision for housing in this case.
