Vol. 97 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glandore Manganese Deposits.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the result of the last examination made of the manganese deposits near Glandore, County Cork; and if steps will be taken to reopen and work the deposits in question.

A preliminary report on the mineral deposits near Glandore, County Cork, was prepared by a firm of mining engineers and further investigations were conducted under the direction of the Geological Survey. The results of these investigations do not encourage the hope that ore bodies in commercial quantities will be discovered in the area.

In what year was this investigation made?

In 1939 the firm of mining engineers referred to carried out their examination and the Geological Survey were active in the year 1940.
