asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will furnish a statement for all turf-cutting counties giving details for the year ended March 31st, 1945, of (1) tons of turf produced; (2) quantity sold; (3) quantity on hands; (4) turf loans outstanding, and (5) loan charges paid for the year mentioned.
Written Answer. - Turf Production and Disposal.
County council turf production schemes are dealt with on the basis of production seasons and not on the basis of financial years. The financial operations for the 1944 season, which are those covered by the financial year ended 31st March, 1945, are at present under examination. A comprehensive picture of the season's operations will not be available until the examination is completed in about six weeks when the information sought by the Deputy will be supplied to him.
