Vol. 98 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Cured Mackerel for Europe.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that a limited number of suitable fish barrels have recently been made available for mackerel curers on the south and west coasts; and, if so, if he will now consider the question of including allocations of these cured mackerel in the supplies being sent to the necessitous peoples of Europe.

The very small amount of suitable fish barrels available for mackerel curers would not justify making the arrangements suggested by the Deputy.

Could the Minister say if there is any possibility of reopening the mackerel trade with America?

That is a separate question.
