Vol. 98 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emergency Powers Wages Orders.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is proposed to revoke the Orders relating to the payment of wages and salaries which were made by him under the authority of the Emergency Powers Acts.

It is the view of the Government that in the conditions now prevailing the revocation of the Emergency Powers Orders relating to wages and salaries would not be in the general interest. It is not possible to give a precise reply to the Deputy's question other than to say that the Orders referred to will be revoked as soon as a permanent improvement in the supply position and the general price trend make it possible to do so without risk of serious consequences.
