Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newsprint for Party Paper.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the reasons why an allowance of newsprint, applied for on behalf of the Clann na Talmhan organisation for the production of a weekly paper, was refused.

An allowance of newsprint was not refused to the Clann na Talmhan organisation for the production of a weekly paper. A permit authorising the organisation to use a certain quantity of paper for this purpose was issued in September last.

Are we to get that supply of newsprint in the near future?

You could have got it last September.

We got a very limited supply, about one-tenth of what we required.

It is as much as any other Party gets for a Party newspaper.

The quota for the daily newspapers at that time was 33? per cent.

I did not know that Clann na Talmhan contemplates a daily newspapers at the moment.

A weekly paper. The Minister was not waiting until after the by-elections, I suppose?
