Vol. 98 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Point-to-Point Races—Grant by Racing Board.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state if he is prepared to direct the Racing Board to make monetary contributions to point-to-point race committees out of the product of the betting levy, to enable increased stake money to be offered at race meetings sponsored by such committees, and thereby encourage the breeding of horses of the 'chaser and hunter type.

The Racing Board is a statutory body set up in accordance with the provisions of the Racing Board and Racecourses Act, 1945, and the Minister for Finance has no function in regard to the matter mentioned in the Deputy's question.
