Vol. 99 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ban on Exportation of Mares.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he is prepared to lift the ban on the exportation of mares over 15.1 hands high, as it is considered that a continuation of the ban will result in a glut of such animals on the market in the near future, especially having regard to the possibility of the increased use of machinery in farming operations.

I am satisfied that it would not be opportune at present to remove the existing restrictions on the export of mares.
