Vol. 99 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Mild Steel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that wholesale ironmongers are refusing to supply mild steel from stock since the new price Order came into operation, and whether, in view of the urgent need for such steel for agricultural equipment, he will take the necessary steps to ensure that supplies will be made available immediately.

The Deputy is presumably referring to imported mild steel the price of which is controlled. There should be no difficulty in obtaining mild steel produced by Irish Steel Ltd., Haulbowline.

I may say that the whole question of steel prices is at present under examination.
