asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state when it is proposed to issue to the public the Report of the Committee of Inquiry into property administered by the Soldiers' and Sailors' Land Trust; further, whether he will state the date on which the committee was appointed, the date on which its inquiry was completed, the date on which the report was presented, and the reason for the delay in publishing it for the information of interested people.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given on the 17th October last to a similar question (Official Debates, Vol. 98, No. 2). It was then stated that this matter has been in abeyance for some time. As indicated in reply to a similar question in the year 1942, certain discussions had been initiated and until these had been satisfactorily completed a decision in regard to the Report of the Judge Shannon Committee of Inquiry was not likely to be taken. There has been no alteration in the position since. The commission was appointed on the 6th March, 1940, and its report was made on the 9th May, 1940.
