Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Discharges from Defence Forces.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of persons suffering from tuberculosis who were discharged from the Defence Forces in each of the years since 1934, and the number of such persons in receipt of disability pensions in respect of tuberculosis.

As the reply contains statistical information, I propose to have it published in the Official Reports.

Following is the information:—

The number of persons suffering from tuberculosis who were discharged from the Defence Forces in each of the years since 1934 was as follows):—1934, 26; 1935, 21; 1936, 13; 1937, 12; 1938, 24; 1939, 50; 1940, 137; 1941, 173; 1942, 208; 1943, 184; 1944, 160; 1945, 175; total 1,183

The number of such persons now in receipt of disability pensions in respect of tuberculosis is 252.
