Vol. 99 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sorting of Transatlantic Mails.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is prepared to arrange for the sorting, at Limerick, of transatlantic mails arriving at Rineanna, in order to obviate the delays and expense incurred under the present system whereby all these mails are conveyed by lorry to Limerick and thence by rail to Dublin, where they are sorted and Mails addressed to Limerick are returned there by rail.

The question of the despatch of air mails direct to Limerick has been for some time under discussion with the Postal Administration of the United States. When a decision has been reached, I will communicate further with the Deputy.
