Vol. 99 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of South Kerry Bogs.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that there are bogs in the Killorglin and Caherciveen areas suitable for machine development, and if he will state why South Kerry was excluded from the proposed ten-year development scheme for turf.

I am advised that the Turf Development Board, Ltd., recently examined a number of the more extensive bog areas in the Caherciveen peninsula, but that further detailed surveys will be necessary before a decision can be taken as to the suitability of these bogs for machine development.
