Vol. 99 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensions Investigations.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether he has received complaints regarding the discourteous and threatening attitude adopted by some investigation officers in their dealings with old age pensioners, and if he will consider the advisability of asking investigation officers to show more kindness and consideration in their dealings with such persons.

In recent years only three complaints have been received. All three were fully investigated but no evidence was found that the officers concerned had acted improperly. I am satisfied that there is no need for the issue of an instruction in the matter, but if the Deputy has any case, or cases, in mind, I shall be glad if he will forward particulars to me when I will have inquiry made.
