Vol. 100 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Disability Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will arrange to have disability pensions paid to ex-Army men weekly or fortnightly instead of monthly as at present, as married men with families who have full disability pensions, suffer hardship by the monthly arrangement.

All pensions payable from this Department are paid monthly. Any change in this system in the case of disability pensions would be bound to cause similar demands from other service pensioners to meet which would necessitate a large increase in the staff of the pensions branch. I propose, however, to have the matter examined with a view to seeing whether the Deputy's request can be favourably considered.
