Vol. 100 No. 19

Written Answer. - Housing in County Wexford.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of the urban districts of (a) Wexford, (b) Enniscorthy, and (c) New Ross (i) the number of houses it is anticipated will be erected during the present financial year; (ii) the number of houses in respect of which plans have been submitted to his Department during the past six months; (iii) the number of such plans which have been approved; and (iv) the date by which it is anticipated the remaining plans will receive approval.

As previously intimated to the Deputy on April 30th, no accurate estimate can be made of the probable number of houses which will be completed by any local authority during the present financial year in view of the uncertainty of the supply position. No plans were submitted to my Department by Wexford Corporation or New Ross Urban District Council in the past six months. Tentative plans in respect of 207 houses in the Enniscorthy urban district have been submitted for consideration. Any amendments regarded as desirable in these plans will be communicated to the manager at an early date.
