Vol. 101 No. 4

Committee on Finance. - Vote 13—Civil Service Commission.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £14,800 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending the 31st day of March, 1947, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Civil Service Commission (No. 5 of 1924 and No. 41 of 1926) and of the Local Appointments Commission (No. 39 of 1926 and No. 15 of 1940).

What onerous duties do messengers perform that they receive an allowance of 4s. each for special duties?

Things must be worked out to a fine point there.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary tell us how a board under the Local Appointments Commission is constituted?

I could not tell you.

All he wants is the money for it.

It is a long story.

Vote put and agreed to.
