Vol. 101 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home-grown and Imported Wheat.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state (a) the total quantity of wheat available from home sources (1) for milling, and (2) for seed, in each of the cereal years from 1939-40 to 1945-46, inclusive; (b) the total tonnage of wheat imported in those years; and (c) the average daily consumption of wheat for flour milling purposes in each of the years 1939 to 1946, inclusive.

As the reply is in the form of a statistical statement, I propose, with the Ceann Comhairle's permission, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

The quantities of (a) home-grown wheat used for milling and for seed, (b) wheat imported, and (c) wheat used for flour milling per day, during the cereal years 1939/40 to 1944-45 were as follows:—
