asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of each county council area and for the whole country, for each of the years ended 31st March, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1946: (a) the number of cases in which a valuation was made of bogs not previously valued, and the total amount of the new valuations; (b) the number of cases in which the valuation on bogs was increased; (c) the total amount of the increases in valuation; and (d) the new total valuations.
Written Answers. - Valuation of Bogs.
The particulars asked for at (a), (b) and (c) are given in the table below. As regards (d), the total turbary valuations cannot be given at this time of the year as the particulars are obtainable only from the valuation lists, many of which are in the hands of the valuers throughout the country. The aggregate additional valuations (i.e., the sum of the new valuations and the increases in valuations) are, however, shown in column 8 of the table. These amount to £1,767 9s. od. for the whole country over the seven years mentioned in the question but it should be noted that during the same period decreases were made in 82 turbary valuations, representing a total reduction of £514 12s. 0d., so that the net aggregate increase was £1,252 17s. 0d.
