Vol. 103 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quit Rents.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the net amount of quit rents collected for the year ending 31st March, 1946; and the cost of maintaining and administering the office for the collection of these rents in the same period.

There is now no separate office for the collection of quit rents payable to the State and the work of collection is carried out by officers who are also engaged on other duties in my Department. The cost of collection of quit rents is not, therefore, exactly determinable but it was estimated at less than £200 for the year in question.

The net amount of quit rents collected during that year was £1,033 7s. 0d.
