Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inter-Governmental Agreements.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state whether any discussions have taken place between any Department of State here and the corresponding Department in Northern Ireland for the purpose of promoting inter-governmental agreements in relation to economic development in which both parties have a common concern, e.g., drainage, hydro-electrification, etc.; whether, if such discussions have taken place, he will indicate their extent and purport; and if they have not taken place, if he will indicate his readiness to participate in such discussion.

The Electricity Supply Board and the Department of Finance have had discussions of the kind referred to by the Deputy with regard to the drainage works required in connection with the hydro-electric development of the River Erne. There have been no other discussions on matters of economic development, but we are always ready to participate in such discussions.
