Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emergency Service Medals.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state when and where it is proposed to present the medals promised to members of the air-raid precautions and other emergency voluntary services; also, whether the presentations will be made in public or privately, and on what occasions the decorations may be worn.

Emergency service medals will not be available for distribution for some considerable time, owing to difficulties in regard to their manufacture. Applications for medals will, in due course, be invited from former members of the auxiliary defence services by means of Press notices and medals will be forwarded to qualified applicants through the post.

No regulations have been made regarding the occasions on which medals may be worn by civilians.

Will the Minister arrange to have them ready for the general election?

Certainly.

We might.
