Vol. 103 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Castlebar Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the nonresidential holding of John Joyce, situate at Errew, Castlebar, County Mayo, Pratt Estate, has been sublet by the owner since he got it from the Land Commission, approximately nine years ago; if he is further aware that the owner has attempted to dispose of these lands by public auction on various occasions; and if he will forthwith take steps to have these lands acquired for the relief of local congestion.

The allotment given to Mr. John Joyce came under notice for subletting and a warning was issued by the Land Commission against the continued misuse of the lands. The case is still under examination and the Deputy's representations will be kept in mind when the matter comes up for decision.

Would the Minister say when the warning was issued by the Land Commission?

Mr. Boland

December, 1944.
