Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Need for Dispensary.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the need for a dispensary at Drimnagh, County Dublin; and what steps, if any, have been taken to provide one there.

I am aware of the need for a dispensary in that part of North Crumlin district known as Drimnagh. The provision of a dispensary in this district is, however, primarily a matter for the commissioners administering the affairs of the Dublin Board of Assistance. Efforts have been made by the board to secure a suitable site for the purpose, but a site has not been finally decided upon as yet. I should state however that on the 6th October, 1944, in view of the erection of a large number of working class houses by the Dublin Corporation and the consequent increase in population in the North Crumlin district, the district was by my order created a separate dispensary district. While a new dispensary has not yet been provided in the district, a temporary medical officer has been appointed to do duty for the area at the dispensary in the adjoining new Kilmainham dispensary district.
