Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Meath Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will take steps to acquire for division the remaining portion of the non-residential Lankford Estate, Summerhill, County Meath, if he is aware that large areas of forestry, in need of cutting down and replanting, are attached to this estate; and if, in view of the great need for timber, he will have immediate steps taken to have these lands handed over to the Forestry Department.

Licences for the felling of mature trees on the Lankford Estate have been granted to the owners on the usual condition as to replanting. There are no proceedings pending for the acquisition of any part of the estate by the Land Commission.
