Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Purchases for Relief of Distress.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state who purchased the cattle which were supplied by this country for the relief of distress in Europe; also the number of cattle so purchased and their total cost.

The live cattle supplied under the European Relief Scheme were purchased by my Department. From the commencement of the scheme, up to and including the 25th instant, the number of cattle so purchased was 12,271, at a cost of approximately £460,000.
