I am not aware that lightshipmen and sailors are finding it difficult to obtain normal supplies of condensed milk. Supplies of this commodity substantially in excess of the pre-war home demand are available generally, and the owner or master of any ship not receiving normal supplies from the retail trader concerned should communicate particulars to the Condensed Milk Company of Ireland, Limerick.

Surely the Minister does not imagine that this question was put down just for fun? Representations have been made to me and to several other public representatives as to the shortage of condensed milk, in our area of Wexford, at least, and would the Minister promise to have the position investigated in that area?
I do not think I should. The supplies of condensed milk available generally are considerably in excess of pre-war. If there is a breakdown in local distribution arrangements, the matter can be rectified if the parties will bring the position to the notice of the main suppliers, the Condensed Milk Company of Ireland, Limerick.
Is it not true that the Minister's reply is the most obvious quibble? Supplies of condensed milk are on sale, but supplies of sweetened condensed milk are very much reduced, and people want sweetened condensed milk in order to save their sugar ration. The Minister's reply is a quibble.
Is the Deputy aware that supplies of condensed milk are on a quota basis?
I have forgotten more than the Deputy ever knew about it.
