Vol. 104 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Overcharging for Sugar.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that, since the reduction of the sugar ration, there have been many complaints of serious overcharging for sugar; and if, in this connection, he will state the number of complaints received by his Department, and the action taken in regard to them.

Thirty-seven complaints concerning overcharging for sugar have been received in the Department since the 23rd November, 1946, i.e., the date on which the sugar ration was reduced.

In 13 cases no evidence of overcharging was obtained. Action is proceeding in the remaining 24 cases.
