Vol. 104 No. 16

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 6, 2, 3, 1. It is proposed that public business be not interrupted at 12 o'clock to take Private Deputies' Business.

Will the Tánaiste say if it is proposed to sit next week?

It is, on Wednesday and Thursday. I do not know if it will be possible to complete the business ordered for to-day before 2 o'clock. The Parliamentary Secretary has had discussions with the Whips of the Parties to ascertain if it would be possible to get agreement to conclude at 2 o'clock, or whether it would be necessary to sit later. The business ordered for to-day must be finished to-day if the Seanad is to get time for the consideration of the Central Fund Bill.

I suggest that it might be better to sit later than 2 o'clock than agree to restrict discussion. That need not mean that we would not finish at about the usual hour. It is better to leave a margin.
