Vol. 104 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abolition of Partition.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state when the last discussions took place with the British Government on the question of the abolition of Partition; if any steps are at present being taken to reopen the question; and if not, if he will state when he proposes to take further action in this important matter.

Hardly a month passes that the question is not raised in one context or another with the British authorities; there is scarcely a question arising in the relations between the two countries that is not affected, and made more difficult of solution, by the existence of Partition. So far as official action of the Government can hasten the ending of Partition, nothing that can usefully be done is being left undone.

Would the Taoiseach not think it very wise to request the British Government to receive a delegation from the Irish Government to discuss this most important matter?

That is a separate question.
