Vol. 105 No. 4

Committee on Finance. - Vote 57—Children's Allowances.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £1,465,700 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending the 31st day of March, 1948, for Children's Allowances (No.2 of 1944 and No. 8 of 1946).

Is it proposed to make any change in the payments in respect of children's allowances?

No, we have not touched them at all at the moment.

It is not proposed to give any temporary increase?

Not for the coming year, until the comprehensive scheme is introduced.

So that, for the budgetary year in front of us, it is not contemplated that there will be any change, either an extension or an increase, in children's allowances?

Vote put and agreed to.
