Vol. 105 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers - Approved Councils.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of county councils which have declared parish or other councils to be approved councils for the purposes of Part VIII of the Local Government Act, 1941; the number of such councils approved by each county council; and the nature of the functions delegated by the county council to the approved council.

I am informed that six county councils have approved of local councils for the purposes of Part VIII of the Local Government Act, 1941. The counties where local councils have been approved and the number approved in each case are: Cork, 8; Donegal, 6; Limerick, 35; Mayo, 1; Meath, 2; Monaghan, 2. In no case has a county council delegated functions to a local council.
