Vol. 105 No. 9

Committee on Finance. - Vote 73—Repayment of Trade Loans Advances.

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £5,943 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending the 31st day of March, 1948, for the Repayment to the Central Fund of Sums Advanced under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts (No. 5 of 1939, sec. 10).

Would the Minister tell us if he is satisfied with the annual repayments of these loans?

The Deputy will have seen the returns which are tabled in the Library. A number were repaid in full, a practice which we regarded as satisfactory; some were not repaid at all and we regard that as unsatisfactory. The general experience on these loans has been quite good.

Vote put and agreed to.
