asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, for each of the last five years for which the information is available, the total amount of the loans and loan stock outstanding against local bodies, distinguishing between the several local bodies, as at 31st March; and the amount in the sinking fund of such bodies for the extinction of debt.

I would refer the Deputy to the returns of local taxation which have been published for each year up to 1942-43, and which contain the required information in tabular form. I am sending the Deputy the information required in respect of the three years ended 31st March, 1946.
