Vol. 105 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - United Kingdom Road Fund.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the share belonging to this country of the Road Fund of the former United Kingdom has been determined; and if so, whether he will state when the determination was made, and the sum payable to this country arising therefrom.

The amount of this country's share in the Road Fund of the former United Kingdom had not been determined at the time of the Financial Agreement signed between the British and Irish Governments on the 25th April, 1938, which, subject to certain specified exceptions, constituted a final settlement of all financial claims of either of the two Governments against the other arising out of matters occurring before the date of the agreement. Our claim in respect of the Road Fund was not among the exceptions and the matter is, therefore, regarded as finally settled.
