Vol. 105 No. 18

Written Answers. - Applications for Houses.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total number of applications for houses lying with the Dublin Corporation in respect of: (a) married persons with family; (b) married persons without family; (c) persons intending marriage; and (d) single persons.

I am informed that Dublin Corporation have not classified applications for houses in a form which would enable the question to be answered fully. Applications from persons intending marriage or from single persons are not registered by the corporation, as it is public knowledge that families removed from clearance areas, unfit houses or dangerous buildings, families suffering from tuberculosis and married persons with families living in overcrowded conditions are given priority in the allocation of houses. The applications from families having a priority number 4,900, made up as follows:—

Families whose houses are scheduled for demolition

2,000

Families living in dangerous buildings or in buildings which have to be closed for repairs or demolition

400

Families consisting of two or more persons in which one or more suffer from tuberculosis

500

Families living in overcrowded conditions

2,000
